Paramount Group of Hotels chose QED to carry out a full programme of works over two years to restore the 15th Century Walton Hall to its former glory.
QED applied its attention to detail and understanding of conservation projects to retain and restore the hotel’s original features and provide modern amenities to English Heritage-approved standards.
Air conditioning was introduced throughout the hotel with pipes concealed behind walls and underneath floors. Each element of the work was planned carefully with English Heritage to make sure the building’s original features were protected and enhanced.
QED designed all of the services to allow the refurbished the hotel’s bedrooms to create 37 premium rooms and suites, complete with the latest audio-visual technology and luxury bathrooms with underfloor heating and state of the art fittings.
Business as usual
QED and the installation team worked hard to minimise any inconvenience to clients of the hotel, which remained open during the refurbishment. The schedule was adapted to accommodate key bookings, such as completing the work on the main building in a challenging timeframe to ensure it was ready for the launch of the new Audi A5 car which was being held at Walton Hall with media and dignitaries attending.
