Green Dragon House

Green Dragon House has won an award for the ‘Most Innovative Redevelopment of an Existing Building’.

The Original building ‘Canius House’ was built in the 1980’s as a state of the art office building for central Croydon business centre.

The scheme consisted of designing a vertical two storey extension to the front section of the building supported on a steelwork transfer structure, on top of the four storey section of building.

The rear section of building is a nine storey tower over basement car parking.

A new tenth floor ‘sky garden’ is designed over the existing flat roof with new structural steelwork transfer frame. The building has been used on one elevation as a canvas for eminent international street artist Ben Eine.

QED were commissioned to provide detailed mechanical, electrical and public health design for the scheme.

The scheme is part of Inspired Homes innovative approach to development providing high quality micro homes at affordable prices. The scheme provides 119 units via the conversion and extension of the existing building including the amendment of the facades to refresh the existing building and provide a high quality development.
